Welcome to the Old Bakehouse website. We have lived in Dartmouth for the whole of our lives and our family has lived in the Old Bakehouse for more than a hundred years. The building itself is indeed very old! A map of 1619 shows the road in front of the house as Bakehouse Hill. Later it was called Bake Hill. Extensive work has been carried out to expose ceiling beams, stone walls and fireplaces. The house is tucked away in a quiet, residential side street, but is very close to all Dartmouth's attractions. We pride ourselves on a personal service and if you want information about anything you read on this page don't hesitate to call us for details.
The Old Bakehouse holiday cottages are in a conservation area of Dartmouth, a two minute walk from the riverfront, Royal Avenue Gardens or Coronation Park with its tennis courts and children's park. The dinghy park with slipway is only a few minutes walk away. The properties are convenient for Britannia Royal Naval College and the town centre with its shops and restaurants.
The cottages have had extensive work carried out exposing beams and stone fireplaces and one cottage has a four poster bed. The old bread ovens can be seen on request.
